PRESS RELEASE

TORREMOLINOS PREPARES FOR THE 3RD ‘EUROAL’ TOURISM FAIR, BRINGING TOGETHER LATIN AMERICAN DESTINATION OFFERS

The Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones, or Congress and Expositions Palace, in Torremolinos (Costa del Sol), Spain, will be the setting for the 3rd Fair of Latin American and European Tourism, Art and Culture from the 29th of May to the 1st of June, 2008. ‘EUROAL’ is organized by the precinct itself, together with the Town Hall of this municipality –a leader in Spanish tourism- and has the support of several Andalusian and international touristic institutions and entities, such as the World Tourism Organization.

EUROAL is one of the new benchmarks in the market of international tourism fairs. In this case, it is focused on just one touristic ‘multi-destination’: Latin America, and its relationship to Europe, the largest emitting market in the world. Since its foundation, this exhibition- which about twenty countries of the Caribbean, Central and South America attend- has grown to become a ‘bridge’ for touristic relationships between both continents, with work sessions between European tour operators and Latin American receptives, and between American tour operators and travel agents of the old continent.

This Latin American tourism fair has broken the stereotype of the expository ‘macrospaces,’ in which offers are dispersed for touristic destinations on the five continents.

As the largest connection of professional collaboration and exchange of experiences between Latin America and Europe, the fair is sponsoring the establishment of contacts between touristic municipalities from both continents for the development of cooperation agreements. Higüey (Dominican Republic) and Torremolinos, the hosting city of the fair, will be the first to formalize sister tourism agreement, probably next May, which will work toward establishing lines of promotion for commercial, cultural and technical exchange.

The agreement could be formalized in the course of the next EUROAL edition. The Dominican delegation would make the agreement and its presence at the fair coincide in order to begin work on an intense job of touristic promotion of the La Altegracia region to the Spanish market and European tour operators attending the fair. The Caribbean expedition would be made up of representatives of the main hotel establishments of Punta Cana, Playa Bavaro, Macao and Uvero Alto, which form the touristic cluster of the ‘Eastern Beaches.’
